Watermelon Day - August 3

They mainstay of summer food....the watermelon.
Thought to originate in southern Africa, and is one of the most common types of melon.
Usually pink, but sometimes orange, yellow, red and green if not ripe.
In Japan, farmers found a way to grow cubic watermelons,
by growing the fruits in glass boxes
letting them naturally assume the shape of the receptacle.
The square shape is designed to make the melons easier to stack and store.

Bees are required in the area for pollination.
